Lighting Audit

The Audit is a precursor to an install or upgrade. 

When a lighting audit is completed, DSB provides a complete inventory of existing lamps and fixtures along with the calculations of current energy consumption. Based on those results, we will then provide a recommendation of replacement lamps and fixtures along with the corresponding calculations of energy consumption by the proposed lamps and fixtures.  This is referred to as pre and post measurement.

The pre and post measurement values are modelled using the baseline energy bill data to determine your savings and generate an ROI for the application of the proposed lamps and fixtures.

There are obvious benefits when it comes to lowering your energy consumption reducing your carbon footprint, marketability of being a ‘green’ company, and of course lowering your costs.

Specific benefits of using T5, T8 and LED lighting often equate to an annual energy savings of between 50% to 75%. This is directly correlated to the following factors:

• Longer life span of up to 36,000hrs in T8, up to 60,000 hrs in T5, and 100,000hrs in LED.

• Lower associated maintenance costs.

• Better quality of light (4100k-5000k) when compared to High Pressure Sodium (2200k).

In many provinces, there is an appropriate process for disposing of lamp and ballasts. There are companies that do that as their business. There are also wholesale companies that offer disposal services as part of a retrofit project.
